Cardiac Rehab

Cardiac rehabilitation should be recommended to all SCAD patients. It has been reported that being a part of a SCAD specific cardiac rehabilitation program improves both your emotional and physical well-being. If you live in the Vancouver area and are able to participate in the program at Vancouver General Hospital, this program encompasses a multidisciplinary approach including exercise rehabilitation, psycho social counselling, dietary and cardiovascular disease education, and peer group support. Exercise and educational classes are also scheduled weekly with a targeted participation of 6 months. Psycho-social counselling, mindful living sessions, social worker and psychiatry evaluations, and peer-group support were offered. Many recreational centers also provide cardiac rehabilitation programs - although they are not SCAD specific.

We have created an orientation manual for the cardiac rehabilitation here in Vancouver. This is a guide - written by members who have gone through the program at VGH.

We’re proud to report that the VGH Center for Cardiovascular Health offers the first cardiac rehabilitation program specifically for women with a diagnosis of SCAD!

The clinic provides an opportunity for women with a similar diagnosis to exercise, learn and support one another along their journey of healing and wellness.
