SCAD BC Virtual support group

SCAD BC meets virtually once month - the second Tuesday of each month from 7-8pm PST. This gives you an opportunity to meet other SCAD people and share experiences/ask questions/express concerns. This informal gathering is not just for the newly diagnosed and is open to any SCAD person who finds the sharing and support helpful - you don’t need to wait until you are referred to the Healthy Heart Program. It’s open to all! People who have attended have found it really helpful to meet others going through something similar, ask questions, and hear others’ stories. Not part of the Healthy Heart Program? No problem. Please join us.

YOGA:

Yoga is such a wonderful way to take care of yourself in both body, mind and spirit. The yoga instructor from THE SCAD REHAB AT VGH is offering yoga classes via Zoom that would be perfect for you.

Anyone who had the opportunity to attend Rey’s yoga classes through the VGH Cardiac Rehab program will tell you how amazing they are! Rey is offering virtual yoga privately.

Contact Rey_Carroll@yahoo.com for more information.

With respect to SCAD and FMD…choose gentle yoga with flowing movement. You should be able to breath comfortably throughout, no straining or isometric exercises that would require ‘bearing down and holding breath’. Also do not recommend extended positions where head is held downward (ie downward dog) if you have been diagnosed with cerebral or cervical FMD, aneurysms or prior dissection.
