SCAD BCMEMBERSHIP

Join Us

Joining a support group can be beneficial emotionally, physically and mentally. If you are a SCAD BC survivor, welcome!

This is a peer-led support group for SCAD survivors. You may not even relate to yourself as a “survivor” rather this was something that “happened” to you. Either way, we are here for you on this journey.

Our Mission is to provide SCAD survivors a warm, supportive, positive, safe space to share our experiences, information and stories. Our main goal is to provide peer support and welcome women and men that have been diagnosed with SCAD.  We share what we have learned about SCAD and provide space for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, or firsthand information about SCAD.   We remember how isolating and frightening our diagnosis was (and still is).  We consult with the staff at VGH but we are independent from any organization and run entirely by group members.

Some benefits of reaching out to our group may include:

·         Feeling less lonely, isolated or judge

·         Reducing distress, depression, anxiety or fatigue

·         Talking openly and honestly about your feelings

·         Gaining a sense of empowerment, control or hope

·         Improving understanding of SCAD and your own experience with it

Our group meets virtually once a month on Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month. Our zoom links are posted on our Facebook page or emailed directly to you (Please contact us on the “Contact tab” if you would like to join us). Our members have also had a SCAD event - just like you and we believe that hearing each others stories and supporting each other is key in our recovery. You can also find us on Facebook (SCAD BC).
